Week #40 5W

Next time I will try my best and not give up. I couldn’t even think about making it to the end. I didn’t even have the confidence to believe that I would succeed. I guess I just gave up. The crowd stares as I’m almost finished. I stopped, not knowing what to do. How embarrassing… I felt like I was going to faint… 3km. I ran out of breath. I look behind me and see a stampede of girls overlapping me. I wasn’t thinking straight.. next time I will make it to the end!

  1. Yay good job Em you should be so proud I love how you put short sharp sentences. Miss you xx🤍

  2. Hello Emily,

What a very topical story with the Tokyo Olympics soon to start.
You shared the desperation of an athlete completely spent unable to make the final distance to win. It would be heartbreaking to come so close and the perfect place to add next time you’ll make it to the end. It shows your character when you have the strength to look to the future in such a moment.
    Well done!

  3. You story is very moving, Emily. It really feels like you are speaking from the heart and being totally honest with your reader. You describe your feelings very well indeed. The sentence ‘I didn’t even have the confidence to believe that I would succeed’ sums up how you were feeling very clearly. You have used the prompt very well, and I am sure you will make it to the end next time!

  4. Hi Emily,

I love your story of resilience and knowing that next time the runner would be more confident and push through the pain (and 3km races ARE very painful!).

    Thank you for sharing,

  5. What a way to start a story, Emily! To keep up one’s spirits and to decide to perform better the next time, is maturity. I love the way you mold emotions into the story. Moreover the usage “stampede of girls overlapping me”, that is one notch up !
Great work, Emily! Hoping to read more of your creations.
